About

Hi, my name is Ian. I created this website as a resource for those who want to create wesbites, and for those who find themselves in the position of maintaining a website, whether it be providing content, improving usability, or looking after its hosting needs.

I’ve been working with websites since the early days of the web. I’ve done web development, worked with marketing teams, run usability tests, looked after web hosting and infrastructure, and more. I’ve worn a lot of hats!

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t actually need technical knowledge to make a website. You don’t even need design skills. These days, there are plenty of web solutions that enable non-technical people to create and maintain their own website. This website was created in order to point you to some of these solutions.

Whilst there are hundreds (or thousands) of tutorial websites out there, teaching users how to code HTML etc, most of these sites assume that you want to build your own website from scratch. In short, most tutorial sites are aimed towards people who want to become web developers.

My goal with this website is to help those who don’t want to learn all the technical stuff, but also don’t have the budget to hire a web developer.

Having said that, I also want to help those of you who do want to learn more about the technical details. Therefore, you will also find relevant tutorials, codes, etc that will help you build and/or maintain your website.

And with technology advancing as fast is it currently is, there will certainly be no shortage of topics to learn about well into the future.

Hope you enjoy the site!
